African style batik workshop. When I went to Ghana as a volunteer teacher, I learned Batik printing and Dyeing from the ladies at Vegas fabric shop. With this process we will use simple designs carved into high density foam. We will dip the foam carving into wax then print wax onto our fabric. The wax works as a resist for the dyeing process. We will use hot water to clean the wax from the fabric leaving a beautiful batik design. Each participant will create several pieces roughly 8"x8" to be sewn together as a prayer flag.
fee is $40 /adult and half price for kids accompanied with adult
