The modern travelers journal. There are many ways to journal, take down notes, make lists, and stay organized. In this workshop, Luke will work with students to build one of his best selling items, the travelers journal. Currently offered in the small size of 3.5 x 5inches, this leather book cover houses replaceable books that fit easily in any bag ready to go. Students can expect to work through basic leather working skills including cutting with a razor, gluing with contact cement, as well as punching and stitching the final product.
Luke, along with his family, Hannah, Essence, and Levi live in Grantsville, Maryland, where he works in the Spruce Forest artisan Village keeping a small leather working shop. He enjoys working with his hands and being creative, but also being in nature, foraging, fishing and exploring. Other interests include motorcycling, enjoying warmer climates during the winter months and architecture, which he hopes will influence his family’s home renovation plans. Luke has worked with leather for about 10 years and is excited for an opportunity to share his experience with those who are interested.
