I went to Ghana some years ago where I learned Batik printing and Dyeing from the ladies at Vegas fabric shop. With this process we will use a carved stamp to create simple designs. We will dip the carving into soy wax then print the wax onto our fabric. The wax works as a resist for the procion dyeing process. We will use hot water to clean the wax from the fabric leaving a beautiful batik design.
Each participant will create a dish towel and several 9 inch square pieces of fabric.
