Pewter Casting: Create Your Own Star
Discover the timeless craft of pewter casting in this hands-on workshop! Participants will learn the full process of creating a unique cast pewter star, starting with carving their own design into a plaster mold. We’ll melt pewter ingots and carefully pour the liquid metal into our molds to create a lovely ornament or keepsake. Each participant will leave with their own hand-cast pewter star to keep or give as a meaningful handmade gift.
No prior experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for hands-on fun with flame and molten metal!
Jody Best has been forging metal since 1989. She is an experienced and enthusiastic blacksmithing instructor who maintains a studio on her farm near Confluence, Pennsylvania where she works on sculpture, functional items, and the occasional tractor. She teaches at Touchstone Center for Crafts and is the director and an art educator at Confluence Creative Arts Center. She likes big dogs and colorful candy.
