Gelatin printing
Allow Nature to be your MUSE! Gelatine printing uses a pan of Knox gelatin which is inked up with water-based ink. This spontaneous printing process creates unique prints using leaves and other elements of nature. Each participant will be able to create several unique works of art without having to draw.

Intro to Lithography
Lithography is a method of printing based on the idea that oil and water don't mix. In this process we will use a plastic sheet ,"pronto plate" to draw onto. Then apply a thin amount of water using a sponge. Next we will ink the plate with oil based ink to prepare for printing. With this process we can enjoy detailed line drawing using ball point pens and sharpies.

Plexyglass printing
Make artwork like Rembrandt! Even if drawing is challenging for you, this printmaking class guarantees success. Drypoint printmaking uses plexiglass to imprint images. Because Plexiglass is clear artwork can be traced from sketchbooks, photographs, or other images. Using the dry point printmaking method, we will scratch into plexiglass to create an image. To make a print, the scratched plate is inked all over, then wiped off the surface leaving only ink in the scratched lines. The plate is then put through a press together with a sheet of paper, making a print. This process can be repeated many times to make several prints. Drypoint offers the ability to explore line quality and detail in drawing. You will leave with prints perfect for framing.

Linoleum cut Printmaking
Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum is used for a relief printing surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife or V-shaped chisel. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a printing press.

African Style Batik Fabric Printing and Dyeing
Back by popular demand. When I went to Ghana I learned Batik printing and Dyeing from the ladies at Vegas fabric shop. With this process we will carve a simple design into a small piece of foam. We will dip the foam carving into wax then print wax onto our fabric. The wax works as a resist for the dyeing process. We will use hot water to clean the wax from the fabric leaving a beautiful batik design.
